Is This A Trick Question?

WYD
Should you really be honest and tell someone what you’re doing when they ask you?  I’m talking about the times when the question comes via a phone call when you’re at home, but its really an “inappropriate” time.  And rather than let it go into voice mail, for some reason we answer it, no matter what we’re in the middle of.  But really though, how honest should you be?  Suppose you’re right in the middle of something that’s just too embarrassing to share?  For example,

  • You threw up and are now in the processing of cleaning yourself up
  • You slipped and fell on the floor you just mopped and your arms and legs are a slippery mess
  • You were having sex with your husband and rolled over to answer the phone
  • You were on the toilet and realized there wasn’t enough tissue so you got up to go get some and answered the phone on the way
  • You just got out of the tub and you’re butt naked
  • You chewed what you thought was a raisin sitting on the counter and realized it wasn’t
  • You were in the middle of picking your nose
  • You thought you were eating a can of tuna but it was actually a can of cat food
  • You were clipping the hairs from your husband’s nose and ears
  • You were picking with a sore
  • You were biting your fingernails and then decided to bite your toenails as well

You get the point, right?  Well the way I see it, unless you know for sure the person on the other end of the phone really wants to know what you’re doing, it’s probably best to just say “oh nothing much, what are you doing?”
